How does your media product represent different social groups?
Our media product represents different social groups. we have decided to aim our film towards young teenagers that consists of boys and girls. We have been able to be successful in this because a young teenage girl stars in it which means girls will be attracted to the actions she takes, boys however are atracted through the blood and gore being used in the clip. We are going against the sterotypical portrayal of teenagers as we use one of a characters (protagonist) as a sophisticated young lady who only returns home from a funeral. The mise en scene of her house shows she is not a sterotypical young teenagers as she does not experience posters up on the wall, mobiles phone out texting and reading girlie magazines, instead she returns home, has a few glances in the mirror and reads the newspaper. Our horror film gives the audience something to aspire too, because it represents a white middle class background. Instead of the young teenagers being chavvy, instead she is in a girlie dress and the state of the house indicates the micddle class background she comes from. We wanted to move away from the representation of screaming women in films and move towards a more self confident character.
